A little over a year since WWE megastar John Cena proposed to his girlfriend and fellow WWE wrestler Nikki Bella in the middle of the ring, the couple have announced their separation and have called off their wedding.
In an Instagram post on her personal page, Bella -- whose real name is Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace -- confirmed the split after six years of being in a relationship with Cena.
Cena was less detailed about the breakup, but shared a cryptic post on his Instagram page as well.
The relationship between the two was one of the focal points on the reality TV shows "Total Divas" and "Total Bellas" which chronicled the lives of twin sisters Nikki and Brie Bella. Cena often told Nikki that he was not interested in getting married again after his first marriage ended in divorce.
However, last year a story line for WWE TV involving the pair being mocked by fellow wrestlers -- and real life married couple -- The Miz and Maryse involved making fun of Cena for not wanting to get married. Following a match at WrestleMania in Orlando last March involving the two couples, Cena proposed to Bella in the ring.
