Reigns has become a genre unto himself as quite possibly the most polarizing babyface in WWE history. It was widely reported that Reigns would join Team Raw, but as he recovers, his spot seems to have been occupied by Jason Jordan, who by virtue of poor booking and lackluster storytelling makes the otherwise polarizing Reigns look like The Rock.
Reigns' run on top of the WWE roster has been accompanied by several, at times nonsensical, conspiracy theories. From the ongoing consensus of The Shield reunion being a backdrop to get him over as a universally beloved babyface; to fan theories of WWE feeding him lines through an earpiece, there's never a dull moment when it comes to the message board mafia's complicated relationship with WWE's favorite son.
But with the wildly unpopular Jason Jordan set to take Reigns' spot, perhaps a new theory will dictate that WWE is temporarily replacing Reigns with a half-baked babyface to purposefully show fans just how much they will truly miss Reigns.
Coming out of a Q3 2017 earnings report where WWE Network subscribers didn't budge despite star-studded pay-per-views, the absence of Reigns from Survivor Series is hardly a cause for panic. WWE can afford to take any and all precaution with Reigns, and while his absence isn't part of some grand conspiracy, it could wind up becoming a best case scenario.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, especially when the alternative is so cringeworthy.
